Preschool Dance (age 3-4)
Mondays 3:00-3:30

Through imaginative stories and engaging games, dancers explore basic concepts like balance, coordination, and musicality in a way that feels natural and fun. The class encourages self-expression and builds confidence, all while maintaining a joyful, energetic environment where every dancer can learn and laugh. Tuition includes 30 minutes of instruction/week and rental of one costume.

  • black leotard (may wear a PRACTICE SKIRT. No tutus!)

Male Attire

Ballet/Jazz 
Mondays - Beginner (age 5-6) 3:35-4:35
          Intermediate (age 7-10) 4:40-5:40

The first 30 minutes focus on ballet, including age-appropriate technique at the barre, in the centre, and across the floor, building strength, balance, and poise. The final 30 minutes transition to jazz, featuring stretching, jazz technique, and the development of performance skills through learning and practicing choreography. These classes will be performing 2 dances at recital. Tuition includes 1 hour of instruction/week and rental of 2 costumes.

Lyrical Ballet
Mondays 5:50-6:40

Blends classical ballet technique with expressive movement. Dancers work at the barre and in the centre, focusing on strength, conditioning, and flexibility, while exploring musicality and emotion through choreography that connects deeply with the lyrics of the music. Tuition includes 50 minutes of instruction/week and rental of one costume.

Attire

  • can wear ballet attire (pink convertible tights, black leotard, practice skirt/shorts) OR

  • black form fitting leggings, capris or shorts

  • form fitting t-shirt or tank

Hip Hop
Tuesdays - Beginner (age 5-6) 3:30-4:20

                     Advanced (age 10+) 5:25-6:15
Thursdays - Intermediate (age 7-9) 3:30-4:20

A high-energy street dance class that emphasizes musicality, rhythm, and body isolations, helping students develop style, precision, and confidence in movement. Tuition includes 50 minutes of instruction/week and rental of one costume.

Musical Theatre
Tuesdays (age 6+) 4:25-5:15

A dynamic class that combines dance, expression, and performance skills, helping students bring energy and character to every stage moment while developing confidence and showmanship. Tuition includes 50 minutes of instruction/week and rental of one costume.

Advanced Jazz
Tuesdays 6:20-7:35

A challenging class designed to enhance strength, flexibility, and mastery of advanced jazz techniques, helping students refine their performance quality and technical precision. Tuition includes 75 minutes of instruction/week and rental of one costume.

Solos, Duos, Trios
Instructor Choreographed

Solos, duos and trios can be any genre of dance taught at Prairie Dance Studio.  Only dancers that show an ongoing commitment to dance are eligible to apply for solos, duos and trios.  A commitment to practicing outside of class time is mandatory. Extra dances are a privilege, not a guarantee, and will be decided upon by the instructors.

Dancer Choreographed

New this year, dancers have the ability to choreograph their own routine and audition for recital slots.  Extra dances are a privilege, not a guarantee, and will be decided upon by the instructors.  Expense of costumes will be up to the dancers, but they will get to keep their costumes.
